Yesterday, these five hardworking D’Youville Pharmacy students, local law enforcement, and volunteers participated in the DEA Drug Disposal Event. Together, we collected, sorted, and catalogued what I would estimate as at least 600 pounds of prescription and OTC drugs, syringes, and other products at the West Seneca location alone. Similar work was conducted throughout Western NY and across the country. These efforts aid in removing unneeded and sometimes dangerous items from homes while assuring that the medications are disposed of in a manner that protects our water supply.
